I hope that we all have recovered from the dreaded “COVID” monster so it is now time to celebrate.

After a two-year hiatus we are off and running with our
2022 TRUXTUN Reunion. It will be held from 20-23 October 2022 in Portland, Maine.

Our host hotel will be the
Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland, Maine (1050 Westbrook Street). The hotel has granted us “blanket” reservations, meaning we get the same rate for up to three days before and three days after the reunion. That way you can explore more on your own and be guaranteed a place to stay.

We have spent many hours trying to get things worked out after COVID shut down most of the nation but I think the results will yield a fun filled weekend of sightseeing and camaraderie with fellow shipmates and guests as well.

On Site Registration Check-in will open on Thursday October 20th at 10:00 in the Hospitality Room (Allagash Room). Lunch and dinner will be on your own.

Up early on
Friday October 21st with breakfast in the hotel in the Waypoint Restaurant. After breakfast leaving at 0900 for a tour of the Maine Maritime Museum. Then at noon we take a Shipyard/Lighthouse Cruise, followed by lunch, then heading to Freeport Village shopping area to include the famous L.L. Bean store. We should return back to the hotel in time for their “Reception” followed by dinner on your own.

Saturday October 22nd again will start with Breakfast at 06:30. Saturday’s tours include a Trolley ride to the downtown seaport area followed by lunch and then onto a Harbor cruise. We will return to the hotel approx. 15:30. At 16:00 ALL members must meet in the Hospitality Room for our Business Meeting. At this meeting we will elect new officers of the Association and pick our next (at least narrowed down to three) location for the 2024 reunion.

At approximately 18:00 make your way down to the
Katahdin Room for photos, socializing and our main Dinner Banquet which starts at 19:00. We ask that if you like bring a gift from your home state and we will have a gift exchange for all who participate (this is an optional gift, $20 maximum value).

Sunday October 23rd we will open the Hospitality Room at 06:00 for folks to gather for final goodbye’s until the next reunion.

Hope to see you in Portland,

PJ Byrne

We will have a guided overview of the grounds before exploring on our own the numerous hands-on exhibits, boat-building demonstrations, lobstering exhibit, and a special lighthouse exhibit (view from the top of the lighthouse without climbing any stairs). A Victorian shipbuilder’s home is also on the grounds of an historic shipyard. Most of the shipyards original buildings, plus tools and equipment, are on view. In the center of the yard, a full-scale metal sculpture of the schooner Wyoming’s bow and stern gives visitors a sense of the enormous size of the ship.
